Procedures for Women

Facial Implants
Maxillofacial Surgery

Facial implant plastic surgery can help you balance disproportionate facial features, strengthen a weak jaw line, or accentuate your cheekbones to create a more youthful appearance.

Facial implants are FDA-approved plates inserted in front of the bone of the cheek, chin, jaw, or other areas of the face.

You have a choice of two types of implants, silicon and porex. Solid silicon implants have a long track record simply because they do not leak and none of the complaints related to breast implants have been tied to facial implants. Porex implants are porous like a sponge, but solid to the touch. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, and the patient should seek information from the surgeon as to which might be best suited for you. Implants also come in various sizes and shapes. This makes it possible to fine tune the type of ‘look’ you wish to achieve. For example, in the chin, it may be possible to get a more ‘angular look’ to the whole face by using a wider chin implant.

You may already have a surgeon or you might be looking at financing options first, either way SurgeryLoans.com can help you understand your options.

Recovery

Depending on the area of treatment, patients may experience a numb feeling or troubled jaw movement, or they may notice bruising or swelling. This usually fades within the first week of facial implant recovery.

Sutures are usually removed 3-5 days after surgery

Most patients are able to return to work about one week into facial implant recovery (about 1 week after having the surgery done)
